Congratulations! You have been to to Ship Full O' Pirates over 100 times! Just thought you'd like to know.

The Sinking of the Titanic

This week’s giveaway winner is Morgan.  No, there isn’t an echo.  The near impossible has happened.  Morgan has won the giveaway 2 weeks running.  Isn’t that incredible ?

Well, congratulations Morgan!  I know your family will enjoy the books!

The New Computer!

Wow, is it fast!  I didn’t realize I had formed the habit of looking away after I clicked (to do other things, you know, multitasking off-line).  I guess I started doing this because the computer had gotten pretty slow.  Well, no more.  This bad-boy zooms!  Zero wasted time!  I’m so spoiled, already!  I was a little hasty in assuming that I would be able to get some photos on the blog today, hahaha.  I totally overlooked the part where I have to get this computer set up and configured the way I know how to use it.  Soon there will be photos.

The June Giveaway

My birthday is in June.  This month’s giveaway will be the first of the monthly giveaways.  And Vision Forum has given me a whole set of the Reclaiming the Culture DVDs to give away on my blog.

Now you may ask, is that a coincidence?  I think not.  Here’s why.

My birthday is in June.  This month’s giveaway will be the first of the monthly giveaways.  And Vision Forum has given me a whole set of the Reclaiming the Culture DVDs to give away on my blog. ;D

The Rules

First off, this giveaway is open to all 50 states and Canada.

One entry per person, three extra entries if you blog about it (an actual post, not just a word or two as part of a list).  Now, for your entry, tell us about your favorite Vision Forum product.  If you don’t own any, that’s ok, just click here to go to their site.  Have a look around, they have a wide variety of products,  pick your favorite and come back here and tell us about it.

I will now share with you my favorite Vision Forum product.  Just a sec, I need to think.  Probably the Wise Woman’s Guide……… No, wait, what I like the best is Passionate Housewives……….. but, the little Pirates are soooo cute in their Coonskin Caps….  OK, while I think about it, I will ask the crew for their favs.

The Princess says ~ the dollies, Evangeline and Liberty

The Squid says ~ the Lasso

Cannonball Jack says ~ the Battle Axe (no, he doesn’t own one, whew!)

Billy Bones says ~  Army Field Phone (The Cap’n gave him 2 for his birthday)

Calico Zak says ~  the English Dagger

The Cap’n says ~ the Ka-Bar USMC Fighting Knife (what? they’re Pirates)

The Admiral ~ The History of the World DVD and CD set

I guess I will have to say that my fav is the Geneva Bible.

I am sure my boys would love to have the English Adventurer’s Sword and R.M. Ballantyne Christian Adventure Library Set.

For me Passionate Housewives Desperate for God is a must XD

  2. Linda McMillin says:

We enjoy many of the products from Vision forum it is hard to pick one, and oh there are so many more our family would enjoy. I guess it I have to say Henty books. They had such a powerful impact on my middle son.

  3. mmclassics says:

I think the books for boys and the BIG Henty collections would be great for the summer. It is my first time to visit both websites. Thanks.

  4. Donna says:

Return of the Daughters, without a doubt! We borrowed it and watched it three times. Then, we got our own copy, thinking it a great way to explain to others what we believe. I wish we had two copies because then we’d always have one to keep here while the other is loaned out. Then, if we didn’t get it back for some reason, we’d still have one. It’s a great piece of work!

I’ll blog about it here http://chineseforwhatsup.blogspot.com/

  5. And here is my blog post :) -http://quiverfullfamily.com/blog/2008/06/20/a-ship-full-o-pirates-reclaiming-culture-dvd-contest/

    Oooh – long url!

  6. We love Return of the Daughters, but I have to say that A Wise Woman’s Guide to Blessing Her Husband has been on my wishlist for so, so long.

  7. Mandy Mom says:

Well…… my favorite, so far, is definitely Passionate Housewives Desperate for God. I read that last month, and man, wow.. yeah, SO great. Really, there aren’t even words to describe how fantastic it is. I’d have to make up words like “fantaxtallent” and extraorexcitablesome”.

It really convicted me in so many areas of my life, and what I love most is that it’s not telling me to feed my own desires, but rather.. to serve- and therein lies my joy. I love that it’s not just biblically based, it’s biblically structured, biblically founded, biblically ROOTED. I’m so tired of parenting/wifedom books which spew a bunch of gobbly-gook with twisted scripture.. or none at all, but claim to be “Christian”.

    It rocks.
Hope I win. Hope hope. Want want…. :)

  28. Jessica says:

Can I lump all of my favorites together and say the teaching CDs by Doug Phillips? We have listened to so many of these and we are often challenged and inspired.

If I have to narrow it down, I will choose one of his more recent sets, “Fearful Christians in An Age of Politics: Biblical Principles For the Ballot Box.”

  29. Anna Peterson says:

I have to say ONE of my favorites is the All American Popgun. My brood of boys LOVE it! My littlest one, at 18 months, can pop away on that sucker. It’s so cute to watch him being a boy! We’ve so enjoyed many of Vision Forum’s products, that’s just the first one to come to mind!

By the way, I’m new to your blog and have loved reading! Thanks,
    Anna

    Kristen and Doug

  33. Stephanie says:

Wow-How about the Moody science dvds, or Jonathan Park, or passionate housewives. Gee, I can’t pick just one!

  34. Evelyn Masters says:

Hello There! I love the Jonathan Park audios. I have always loved adventure stories/Indiana Jones so this is the best of both worlds. It teaches great values and ideas while being full of fun and adventure.

  35. I love Vision Forum! we have some of the Moody Science Videos, but I’d like to get the Lion Shield and Sword for my little man :)

  36. Shannon says:

I LOVE the Moody Science videos (DVD’s) I watched them when I was a kid and I would love for my kids to see them. I believe we actually watched them on a reel if I remember correctly. :)

  37. I absolutely LOVE all their stuff for boys! What they (including hubby) want the most is the knife throwing DVD by Michael Pearl along with some of the throwing knives. They are also wanting the “Frontier Skills” DVD set…will probably get them that for Christmas.

I also LOVED the “Wise Woman’s Guide…”! My sister-in-law borrowed it and then has been passing it around to all her friends as well. I probably need to buy a new copy! I also would love to read the “Passionate Housewives” book. We’ve listened to a ton of their CD’s and have loved them all.

I can’t recomment Vision Forum products enough!

  38. Momma Bug says:

I haven’t ordered a single thing from Vision Forum (yet), but my eye is on the Housewives book, and all the Ballyntine and Henty books.
I just don’t think it’s fair I never win ‘em!

I’ll get my other three entry’s before the week is out too!

  39. theresa says:

Anything you chose from Vision Forum will be a blessing! Ballantynes, Raising Maidens of Virtue, Elsie Dinsmore, any of the Lamplighters…Oh, you are killing me with trying to pick ONE favorite! Missionary Patriarch, no, Marriage to a Difficult Man, no wait, the Geneva Bible. Yes, that’s my final answer!

  40. Morgan says:

Do I really have to pick just one thing? I love the great kids library and history books.

  41. Michelle says:

Hello, I heard or I should say I read about your contest from Karen and I have now posted it on my website too! Our family LOVES!!!!!!!!!!! Vision Forum! It is extremely hard to pick only one item as the true favorite. I guess it would have to be the book “Homemaking”. I picked this book because of it’s edifying, uplifting and encouraging nature for EVERY member of the household! A priceless gem. Thanks

  42. Kendra says:

We read about your contest at Karen’s weblog! I will try to blog about it. If I do, I will return to your comments.

We have many items that we enjoy from VF, but the one that gets almost daily use is THE ZIPLINE! It is popular with everyone in our house and is the main attraction for others to our yard. Even our Ole Daddy Rabbit has video footage of him riding it backwards:)

Thanks for running a contest. It is fun.

  43. MotherHen says:

Thanks for the post, Karen! I know it’s a tough decision. Hubby and I have a kinda running joke. One of us will listen to a VF cd, and when the other asks, “How was it?”, the pat answer is (said with a shrug)”It’s from VF, of course it was good!”

  44. Karen says:

Oy vey…such a tough decision. We, too, love the Jonathan Park CDs. I also love, love, love the film “St. John in Exile”, which I don’t believe they sell anymore, but I did get it from there.

    Um.
    Hm.
    Yeah.
    We like everything.
(And I posted on our blog about your fantabulous contest!)

  45. Hmmm… if I *had* to choose my favorite… I think I’d pick Passionate Housewives Desperate for God. I’ve been wanting to read that!! :)

  46. Lisa K. says:

I would have to say the Jonathan Park CD’s are definitely the faves, although we have most of the rest of the catalog (at least the boy stuff, as I live in a house of testosterone, LOL!) Last year we waiting none too patiently for the latest volume to come out, listened to it in 2 days and then the boys were downtrodden to think they had to wait another year for the next volume!

  47. Sharmista says:

My son loves Jonathon Park, and I love what good stuff he learns from listening to them! But my personal favorite has to be Passionate Housewives.

  48. Lauren says:

Oh, my…just one? I would have to say that Passionate Housewives is probably #1 on my list, but there are so, so many I’d like to have.

  49. Cyndi Lewis says:

Entrepreneurial Bootcamp and Return of the Daughters.

  50. MotherHen says:

Hi Theresa, glad to have you aboard! I’m pleased to know that your daughter is happily helping her daddy, imagine what a great wife and mom she’ll be, having learned from a young age.

Michelle, I know it’s hard! I had a most difficult time choosing, and really, in the end, I copped out, because, truth be told, we would all put the Bible before all others. So, yeah, I made a hard giveaway, but it’s a fun one and totally worth the brain strain. At the very least, you get to do a little e-window shopping. At the most, your name will be drawn out of the hat on my birthday.

  51. Theresa Taylor says:

Hi, I have enjoyed reading your blogs. Found your website through A Woman’s Journey home blog. I have to say I love the R.M. Ballantyne set. I received them as a gift for my 3 boys. Even my girls love for me to read these out loud. I absolutely love learning about raising GODLY and noble sons, and homemaking daughters. Since learning about Return of the Daughters, my 9 yo daughter is volunteering to be a helper for Daddy. I never knew GOD would be so faithful. I have so little knowledge about training my family, ut I am learning so fast. Thanks to the proverbs 31 network of bloggers and th quiverfull blogger moms. Thank you for your time. I may one day have a blog of my own. GOD bless you all and all who read your blogs.

  52. Faith says:

OOOOOHHHHHHH!!!!! I was eyeing this set in the catalog….. I do like the cd’s entitled, “Wise Woman’s Guide to Blessing Her Husband’s Vision”. A real eye opener!! Very helpful in a world where our culture is upsidedown!! “Passionate Housewives” is second for sure!!

  53. Michelle says:

Asking me to choose my favourite Vision Forum product is like asking me to pick my favourite child. It can’t be done. They just have too many great products and each item seems better than the one before it. I thought I would try to cop out and select a set of something, but even that is hard to choose, because they carry so many multiple sets of books that I want…the Hentys, the Ballantynes, Jonathon Park, Elsie Dinsmore, and The Children’s Hour collection. Can I just say books?

    No?

Okay. Somehow you have managed to prod me to the end of the plank in an attempt to get me to make a decision. You are some very tough pirates!

Therefore…my pick for the greatest Vision Forum product (with the disclaimer that it is too difficult to narrow down the books!)is…

…the pouch of ancient Roman coins. We bought some of these for my son and my dad liked them so much, I ended up buying a set for him for Christmas. There is nothing like holding a piece of ancient history in your hands and imagining what lives it may have touched and what products it could have purchased, making it great for studying history, or inspiring a writing project, or whatever.

    Thanks for another great giveaway!
