Did you know that there is such a thing as “too hot for mosquitoes,” but it’s not a good trade. Unfortunately, here in South Texas we get both, at different times of the day. I truly hate putting DEET on my sweet babies Pirates and even if I do, they still get bit.
I haven’t got the solution to not getting bit in the first place, but once they’re bit, I’ve got the cure. We call it the “itch goop.” The folks at Burt’s Bees call it Res-Q-Ointment. It’s just the thing. It takes the itch right out and I love the way it smells. Very natural, very herbal.
It’s also good for scrapes and minor cuts. Just add bandaids and yer ’bout ready for anything. I keep two in the house and one in my purse. You don’t want to keep it in the car in the summer-time, because the base is olive oil and it will liquefy at high heat.
I buy mine at the HEB (that’s our grocery). If yours doesn’t have it, try Whole Foods or you can order online.
I do have a giveaway goin’ on right now. It’s not over till June 30th, but if you don’t enter now yer libel to forget.

I’ll try anything to stop the itching. Our plight with chiggers last year about drove us all to distraction. Thanks for the tip!
I’ll have to try that. Everything they make smells so purty! But do you know, does it sting if it’s put on a bite already scratched raw? (Can’t keep ‘em from itching!)

I wish I could get it here (I live in Mexico) and we get our share of mosquitoes too. I haven’t tried the scotch tape remedy, I will try it. XD
P.S. I like your blog,I have two kids myself, they are twins.
You can find it at Target.
We too love Burts bees!
Dontcha just LOVE Burt’s Bees? They are amazing. I’ve also heard if you put scotch tape on a bug bite, it doesn’t itch anymore. Who knew?
I never realized that Burt made a bug spray! That’s exciting. I’ll hafta go to their web-site and check that out.
Our local natural foods market also sells Burt’s Bees’ bug spray. It has citronella and other things in it, and it SAVED us last year when PapaPyro was setting up his 4th of July show at a lake. It also smells wonderful, and I don’t worry as much using it on the little pyros…
We love Burt’s Bees!
