I love bookswaps. They are the best way to buy curriculum. You get to see and touch everything yourself. You get to talk to the actual mom who used it. You sometimes get feed-back from the children who learned from it – or didn’t. And all at a DEEP discount! I always buy stuff at bookswaps that I would never be able to consider buying brand new.
A little disclaimer: one box of goodies was hiding, so those items didn’t get to be in the photo.
So here’s my list of purchases from the swap.

Drum roll, please… I spent a grand total of $83. Retail value (I wouldn’t have ever bought all of this at retail, so I can’t honestly say it’s all savings) of $718.92
It’s been quite a few bookswaps ago since I added it all up this way. I must say, I knew I got some great deals, but I never would have guessed that it would be this grand!
My neighbor and I shared a table and we both sold a few things. I ended up bringing home as much cash as I took with me, so I had a zero out-of-pocket experience! Gotta love “free” curriculum! ![]()

Hi Nancy, no, the bookswap was at F.E.A.S.T.
For those of you who may not know, that stands for Family Educators Alliance of South Texas. It’s not a support group per se. They’re a clearing house of information and support services for the home schooling community.
I’m not a member of a support group either, Nancy, but I have been in the past. And I’ve never found a support group bookswap to be a members only activity. What makes a bookswap a success is having a bonanza of products available, which would be difficult to accomplish with only a few families involved.
Way to go! What a great deal! Is the book swap through your support group? I’ve never heard of one around me, but I haven’t ever joined a support group – wondering if they are only open to the members of the group.
And . . . Happy, Happy Birthday!!!!! I hope you have had a wonderful day!
Blessings,
Nancy
