Smooth, Young Feet

   Posted by: MotherHen   in Extra-Categorical

Alright friends, there’s a new carnival on the web.  It’s called Things I Love Thursday and it’s goin’ on over at The Diaper Diaries.  So head on over to her place (after you read about my feet, of course) and see what she has to say about doin’ dishes.  I’m gonna try her way, maybe, just as soon as I get up my nerve.

Now, here’s my contribution to Things I Love Thursday!

I live in flip-flops most of the year.  Not just any flip-flops.  Croc flip-flops.

And for the times when I need more of a shoe, I wear the  crocs clogs.  The ONLY time I wear any other kind of shoe is when I’m Sweatin’ to the Oldies.

I really didn’t set out to tell you about my foot-wear.  What I really wanted to talk about are my feet.  Because of the kind of shoes I wear, my heels get rather horrible.  You know, the thick, sandpaper-y, sandal-heel.  I have battled with this problem for years.  I am so faithful to my pumice stone and the sandpaper on a paddle thing, but all to no avail – ok, minimal avail.  So, imagine my delight at finally finding a method that works like a dream and isn’t a total nuisance to use.

I was kinda desperate when I decided to try this, which explains why I was willing to fork over $10 for a glorified cheese grater.  But, good grief does this thing fix up my feet!

Here’s the routine.  I get the dish-pan that I have dedicated just for this purpose and fill it half way with really warm water, grab a bath towel and sit down in my rocker to crochet and watch TV for half an hour while I soak my feet.  Then I dry one foot, and while leaving the other in the water, I go over the dry foot with my Ped Egg.  Then dry the other and give it the egg treatment, too.  The Ped Egg does it’s thing pretty efficiently, way faster than the pumice stone AND the result is far superior.  (can you use the word superior when you’re talking about feet?)

The Ped Egg doesn’t feel at all like I thought it would.  Really?  I thought it would be uncomfortable and I thought it would leave my foot more rough than it was when I started.  Wrong on both counts.  It actually feels good.  And my feet are so young when I get done.  The first time I did this I couldn’t stop touching my own heels!  It had really been a long, long time since my feet felt that great!

I would say more, but I’m starting to think I’m weird, can’t imagine what you must think!

Not weird at all. I just got one of these too to maintain in between pedicures. I was actually thinking of doing a future TILT about it too. It is fabulous!! I need to add in the pre-Pedi Egg soak though. That sounds delightful.

Thanks for sharing. I wondered if a Ped-Egg will really work … so now I guess I’ll fork over $10 to get one, too.

Hey, thanks for the 411 – I’ve been curious if these were really worth it! Now I need to add it to my footcare collection :)

That sounds cool! I’ve never heard of that before. I live in sandals too. I only put on real shoes when it dips below 60 degrees :) .

I came over from Life In A Shoe and so glad I did! I have been curious about this cheese grater/heal smoother for months. Now I might just have to give it a try. Thank you!
