The Sad Demise of Speedy G

If you’re new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed

Speedy G (the new computer) died an untimely death during the night last night. I don’t think Speedy ever enjoyed good computer health. Fortunately Speedy G is under warranty and will be replaced very soon.

When I talked to the tech guy this morning he didn’t hesitate to offer the replacement option. He used words like multiple issues and motherboard failure. I am so relieved to get some satisfaction from the warranty company.

What is it with ladies, we assume some sort of weird responsibility or guilt when confronted with this sort of situation. Not real responsibility or real guilt, but this weird impostor that gives me an ache in my neck. I can now, finally, begin to relax and breathe in a normal rhythm. They’re going to handle it.

I have so little computer knowledge that I always make the techies roll their eyes, but I’m friendly and sweet and motherly, so they are generally patient with me. Probably the lack of knowledge causes the weird and wrongly assigned emotions. But I’m free of that now, Speedy G and I are both free. Speedy G is free from having to try so valiantly to compute any more, and I am free from having any further feelings of guilt and responsibility.

So, tomorrow I’ll send Speedy home to his maker and they will send me a brand “new”(refurbished – like Speedy) computer. Can’t wait. They’re all the way in NY state, so it may take a few days.

Then I’ll be able to put photos on the blog, but not until Speedy G 2 gets here and learns all the baby computer lessons I was trying to teach Speedy G 1 yesterday. So, in the mean time, I think the Pirates and I will make some cookies. And you know, if you give a Pirate a cookie…..
