Treasure Hunt!

The cake was a smash-bang success. I would give you the directions, but all you have to do is google “treasure chest cake” and you’ll find all sorts of options. The treasure hunt started at the dinner table. The first note read, “You will find your first clue where you rest your head. Here’s a hint, it’s on your bed.”

I had one under each pillow, they found both.

“You are doing fine, you know where to look. Now go to the den, look in a Pirate book.”

“You scurvy dogs should eat a lime. But first, go look where you like to climb.”

“You’re hot on the trail of your birthday loot! Now go look in your brother’s boot!

“Are you tired yet? Are you getting hot? Go back in the den, and look under a pot.”

“You’re doin’ good, you’re quick as a fox! Go out in the garage, find your treasure box!”

On an inconspicuous Office Depot box, in my messy garage was taped this note, “You’re pretty sharp Pirates That’s certainly true. Have a Happy Birthday, Mama and Daddy love you!

The un-birthday crew, l-r, The Cap’n, Calico Zac, The Squid, The Princess.

OK, that was much harder than I thought it would be. I hope I get the hang of it soon!

I don’t think you have to wait for a birthday to have a treasure hunt. Why not give the pirates a pencil, some paper, a ziplock baggie full of trail mix (as loot) and let them make their own treasure hunt to beat the boredom! Works for me. :)
