Peppermint Tea

   Posted by: MotherHen   in Extra-Categorical

What do you tell your children when they have a headache?  I tell mine to drink a full glass of water and then, if it still hurts to come back and talk to me.  Unless they are sick, they never have to come back.  My children’s headaches (not that they get many) are almost always due to slight dehydration, because they’re having too much fun to interrupt themselves with getting a glass of water.

My headaches, on the other hand, require a different approach.  I suffer migraines.  Frequently.  So I try not to use drastic measures to treat them.

My favorite, non-medical way to treat a migraine is with a cup of herbal tea.  Not just any sort of tea.  Peppermint tea.  Yummy stuff.  I make a double cup.  Meaning I put 2 tea bags in my mug.  Almost always leaves me headache free.  And minty fresh to boot!  My favorite is Celestial Seasonings.  Actually, I buy no other brand of tea.

Works for me!

I am going to try this. I suffer from frequent migraines, too, and don’t want to do anything drastic (i.e. daily prescription meds) about them. Thanks for the tip.

I’m definitely going to try this. I have frequent severe tension headaches, and I love peppermint tea – I just never put the two together! Thanks for the idea!

I get those killer-type headaches once in a while, so I’m definitely going to try this next time around. Thanks!

I am going to try this also. My dr. just gave me some Rx samples for migraines – I’d love to use this instead!!!
Great idea with the kids’ headaches too.

I’ve dealt with migraines my whole life it seems and I thought I had tried literally everything, but I haven’t tried Peppermint tea. Now I’m excited to try it out. thanks for the tip! I’ve always stuck to the high dose of tylenol with some caffeine (usually a coke), but I’d love to do tea instead of coke if I could.

Can I just eat some peppermint ice cream instead?

I like the way you think, Caroline! :D Yes, I think we should all stop what we’re doing, and eat some yummy peppermint ice cream. Even those of us who don’t currently have a head ache should have some too!
