I realize that “Charlotte Mason” style home education might sound way too foofy for Pirates, but it ain’t so!  I know you’re all up on your reading and researching about boys having to sit in chairs at desks and that being all sissyfied and makin’ ‘em into girls.  So, we don’t do that.  What?  Homeschool Pirates!  We make our own rules, thank you very much.

Charlotte Mason knew about boys.  She insisted on 15 minute lessons, with breaks in-between.  But the real genius is the bit called masterly inactivity.  This is time to play without too much interference from the mama.  No, it’s not an excuse to be a slacker-mom.  It’s the part of the day when your Pirate gets to develop his imagination and his muscles.  Outdoor play, every afternoon.  All afternoon if possible.

Mine do most of it in our back yard, but we have a good climbing tree out front, too. So let ‘em play.  It’s good for ‘em!  Works for me!
