Congratulations! You have been to to Ship Full O' Pirates over 100 times! Just thought you'd like to know.
I’ve been giving a lot of thought to my role in our family. Am I being the best helper I can be? I really get so tangled up in the feminist way of thinking that I was brought up on. I have to remind myself to listen to the words of my husband. I have to remind myself to not usurp his leadership. I have to remind myself to just shut my mouth.
One of the things my husband would like me to do is to see to it that tasty meals are on the table (or about to be) when he gets home from work. I have to admit, I used to think it was ok to buy food already prepared, and serve that to my family. Just because I felt like it.
I’m such a slow learner. It really is no big deal to get a meal on the table. Duh, I’m here all day long. And duh, he doesn’t require fancy, hard to prepare food. I LOVE that man!
Another thing he has asked me to do, is to bake all the bread for our family. Sounds like a bummer, huh? No prob! He bought me a grain mill and a Bosch mixer. With these tools I can walk into my kitchen at 10am and have bread ready for lunch at noon. Start to finish, from staring at a bucket of grain, to bread coming out of the oven only takes an hour and a half. But, I like to let it cool some before cutting into it.
And of the hour and a half, I’m not in the kitchen more than 40 minutes. And that includes clean up! The rest of the time the bread is just sitting there rising and then baking.
This is such a do-able thing. And in doing it, I honor my husband. Win-win!

I need to work on this more!! I find myself being lazy instead of doing things that I know would please my husband. Today I decided I would work ALL day in the house to get it presentable for him. My house tends to get VERY cluttered and then it’s just overwelming. We have 4 people in about 680 square feet. Needless to say it looks cluttered even when it’s clean but I’m going to try to get rid of some stuff too. I checked out that web site you talked about(junk pyramid)and it did inspire me to work on my mess. Thanks for reminding me of what my job is!
I love that you are able to choose to do something that makes your husband happy and then do it with a cheerful heart, which is really what makes all the difference. I LOVE homemade bread and use my bread machine, often. Not starting from grain, though!
