Congratulations! You have been to to Ship Full O' Pirates over 100 times! Just thought you'd like to know.

When the children are small they get all the exercise they need by just playing around in the backyard and having fun riding their bikes.

But as they get a little older you need a plan.

We have had success with a variety of approaches.  And it is super handy that my Very Dear Hubby used to be a Drill Sergeant in the Army.  Does that ever work for me!  5 Pirates and a Drill Sergeant.  Sounds kinda like a Disney movie from the 70′s doesn’t it?

But anyway, there should be some calisthenics goin’ on.

Perry, from Life in a Shoe, found this site and is using some of the ideas in his home.  Kim, ya know, from Life in a Shoe, sent me the link today and I know that most of these exercises would effectively end my life.

But the Pirates, on the other hand, are gonna have lots of fun seeing who can do the most chin-ups, and jump squats, and diamond push-ups, and I may just use Burpees as punishment for some of ‘em.  You know, tight ship and all that.

  1. Oh Gosh that video was so cute! I firmly believe that the exercise habits that one acquires during early childhood through teenage years depends a lot not only on their influences (family, gym teacher, etc.), but pushing kids away from anaerobic activities (playing video games, putting out the trash, washing dishes, etc.) in lieu of taking a stroll around the neighborhood after dinner or spending the day at the park with a bicycle or roller blades handy. The innocence of children and what all of these influences garner a well-developed child that will hopefully grow to be a fit adult. Thank you for putting this up! Take care.
