September Giveaway

   Posted by: MotherHen   in Extra-Categorical

Finally, it’s September!

The weather could begin to be bearable any day now!  And to celebrate agreeable weather we must all now begin to exercise, because it’s entirely possible that with a little bit cooler weather,  maybe we won’t suffer a heat stroke if we work up a sweat.  Y’all on board with that?

Well, in case yer not, here’s a little incentive.  For the monthly giveaway I’ve decided to share the fun and give one of you a brand new copy of Richard Simmon Sweatin’ to the Oldies 4 on DVD.

  • Have fun!
  • Get fit!
  • Scare or humiliate ALL of your children!

Three birds with one stone!  What more could you ask for?

The Rules

  • Let’s see.  Y’all know I hate a brief, “Enter me!”  So this time let’s inspire each other.  Tell us your work out plans for the Autumn months.  How often?  Weights?  Aerobics?  Square Dancing?  What ever.  One entry per person.  I’ll choose a winner around the first of next month.
  • Sorry, Karen.  All month long is the way it fits in my brain.  If I do it differently, I’ll get all confused and forget to do it at all.
  • This giveaway is limited to the continental 48 due to ridiculously high shipping rates to anywhere else.

August Giveaway Winner!

The winner of last month’s giveaway is Carla, who said, “my favorite book to read and I read them to both of my girls is I love You, Little One by Nancy Tafuri!!”  Congratulations Carla!  Email me back right away!

I plan to continue to work out daily. I do aerobics every day and then alternate upper and lower body strength training each day. I want to change up my routine a bit more this fall and do some different things to keep my body guessing. I tend to rely on the same things and that’s not good. I have lots of videos so I am going to commit to not doing the same workout video more than once per week. Thanks for the fun giveaway.

I was just thinking about that the other day. All summer i have walked. It is getting cooler out. I think i will dig out the excersize bike out of the basement and try to do that every day for 30 minutes.

I would love to have this on DVD. My workout plans are about the same year round. When I think I can work out without my littles running around me causing me to fall and hurt myself in an effort not to hurt them while falling.

what a hoot! I am laffin’ out loud… the photos you posted of Richard are great. :)
as far as my work out plans for the fall… first of all I am not a good planner… so I need to do better about scheduling work-out times. I have a DVD that I used for a while called “the Lotte Berk Method… muscle eats fat”. I really enjoyed it and I’ve been thinking of starting it up again, but so far all I’ve done is thinking.
My kids have recently taken up swimming and one day I went with them and swam 9 laps. it was energizing, but it’s not practical to go the pool several times a week. Another idea that I’ve been rolling around in my head is roller skating! Our neighborhood has great streets and sidewalks for skating, biking or just walking.
Basically, I am entirely too sedentary and have got to get this body up and moving. Do you have any motivation that you could add to the giveaway??? I would think that just looking at the scale would be motivation enough, or looking at the stack of pants that don’t fit anymore, but so far that’s just not working. Is this a struggle for anyone else?
I think “Sweating to the Oldies” with Richard Simmons is a great giveaway… exercise and laughter… both are good for you! :)

They have built a new YMCA not 5 minutes away from our home! It is a beautiful building and has lots of choices. I am going to swim in the indoor pool to start things off. Thanks, Cindi

I walk every.single.morning! I don’t plan to let up on that. It’s great exercise and it helps me get mentally sorted for the day. I live in Texas, so the cooler autumn months really just mean lower 90s.

I’m adding a belly dancing DVD 2x per week. Which will be done in private, in the dark! And I’ll probably deny it if anyone asks! At least for the first few months.

Thanks for the chance!

I have been unable to exercise for the past 2 years due to back to back complicated pregnancies. I just got the go ahead to resume normal activity though and I am looking forward to getting back in shape. My plan: get the kids working out with me (Richard would be great for this LOL) and take a walk when weather permits. If we move closer to a mall, I will walk regardless of the weather, but currently we live about 45 minutes from a mall so it will not be happening often.

OK, I’m going to have to get in on this one. But workout plans? Now I’m in trouble. Does it count if my complete answer is just one word: none?
Unless I win your giveaway, of course…

Shew.. I could talk your ear off about my weight loss journey. I recently lost 70+ lbs. I had surgery (had a lump in my breast) 2 times this summer and Ive managed to gain about 15 of that back. I started yesterday on my weightloss journey again. My goal is to lose 50 more lbs as of now.
You can check out my weight loss blog here.

I like to mix it up – walk, ride bike, lift some weights…… I get bored doing the same thing and eventually wouldn’t keep up with exercise

Awesome, I love Richard Simmons. =)

Sooooo, this month I’m aiming for running on the treadmill for at least 30 minutes at least 3 days/week. I will also learn how to lift weights.

Goal: lose at least 5lbs in September.

I am going to walk more often. It seems that every time that I try to get out the door for a walk one of my 4 sons has some kind of crisis that I need to deal with. I need to just get out the door and do it. I have recently lost almost 20 pounds and I know that I need to exercise to continue a healthier lifestyle.

I remember working out to these Sweatin To The Oldies tapes with my mother when I was growing up. Fun times!

I’ve recently started walking. Because it’s easy to take short cuts home, I’ve had to take my walking elsewhere to stay modivated and started going to the track and field at the local high school. What a great way to walk a mile and not think of it as a mile. Laps are much easier to comprehend. :) For September, I guess my goals will focus more on eating better rather than exercise since I’m baby stepping my way into that by walking right now.

Earlier this summer I was being lazy on youtube, and I came across this girl that was hula hooping. I was so inspired from how she moved and how gorgeous she looked doing it. I bought myself an adult hula hoop (believe me the ones that you buy from the dollar store will just not go! lol). I hadn’t got much use out of it yet due to weather and moving, but during this fall I’ll be hooping all the time!

My work-out plan is to get started on my yoga, pilates and basic dance exercises again. I was one of the fortunate ones that basically left all of the pregnancy weight at the hospital, but I still have a saggy belly to deal with. My goal is to tone up, and not really lose weight.

Gee, if I win this then I’ll be doing a certain Richar Simmons video this fall. If not I have the original Sweatin to the oldies and will be doing that. Maybe some walking if I feel well enough to venture away from the house.

You had me at scare or humiliate my kids…. Of course getting in shape would be a nice perk also. I don’t have a workout plan but you would think with all of the cleaning up I do after the kids I would be a size zero. Unfortunatly not.

I always pick up the pace on my workouts in the fall because I know the holidays are coming to sabotage me! I do pilates and use a resistance band! I think Sweatin’ to the Oldies would be WAY more fun! Thanks!

I was planning a 3 day a week workout at our schools newly opened exercise room, but I tore a ligament in my knee and have had to postpone my plans until after surgery!

I must admit, exercise is not my favorite thing. I like it slightly more than brussel sprouts (which I detest). However, my doctor is STRONGLY recommending that I get my tail moving for at least 30 min. a day 5 days a week. This DVD would be awesome to help me get my exercise in a creative way. Hopefully, my child won’t be scarred by seeing Richard Simmons in those crazy shorts!

I look forward to getting back to regular workouts. Right now I am healing from “whiplash”. (Sounds worse than it is. Makes me think of people in big white collars suing people.)I fell in a grocery store and 3 days later I had pain! What I normally do is walk, run, or eliptical. I also list weights and walk around cleaning up after my 5 messy/destructive children. That’s exercise isn’t it?

Two words: Wii Fit

Seriously it is a lot of fun and the whole family does it together. We all take turns and stick around to cheer each other on.

We also practice taekwondo as a family.

Exercise is always more fun when you get the whole family involved!

I used to have Sweatin’ the Oldies on VHS and my oldest DS used to do it with me! I didn’t know you could get these on DVD!

I usually consider running and cleaning up after the kids my exercise. However, I will be walking more, and adding in more fresh veggies and fruit as our budget allows.

I’m getting back in the exercise routine after taking 3 months off (I hate hot weather…it doesn’t do my body good). I am going to start slow with three days a week – Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I will work out in the morning on the elliptical and the treadmill or walk outside in the evening. I am also going to try to walk and pick my son up from school everyday that it’s nice.

I was diagnosed with PCOS recently and have a very slim chance of having kids.. or so my doctor says. The doc also said if i start losing some weight and excersizing my chances improve some for trying to conceive. So my plans are to start excersizing..right now ive been walking and trying to get some upper body stuff in with some light weights. I would love a chance to win the DVD’s ! ! THanks!!!

I am so glad it is fall, because I live in the humid south where if you poke your head outside between May and Sept you are instantly covered in sweat. Fall means I can walk! Outside! I died laughing when I read “Scare or humiliate all your children…”

Now that it isn’t so hot, I plan on upping my walking. I also like to do yoga. I might add in some aerobics, probably some exercise with those big exercise ball, I really need to use that thing more!

Since I live in central Florida, It has been way too hot to walk around here in the evenings. If you wait until dusk, then you have to fight the mosquitoes. Now that it is cooling off some, I can get back to my outside walks in the early evenings. I will save my DVD/VCR tapes for rainy evenings!

I have belonged to the gym for quite a while. However, recently I started taking advantage of their classes. Now I do Step on Monday; and Body Works on Tuesday and Thursday. I swim for an hour about three times a week.

Lastly I make my husband take me for a hike around our place about five times a week. We live in the boonies with lots of open hilly paths to explore.

I am getting older but healthier every day.
