Eggspert Advice! Oh, I Crack Myself Up!

   Posted by: MotherHen   in Vittles

I learned this tip from Julia Child.  No Kim, not personally.  (She thinks I have a wild past that might include such crazy behavior like actually being Julia Child’s long lost niece.)  I have been known to look at cooking shows on the “Babylonian black box of death” from time to time.

When you break open raw eggs make sure you run your finger around the inside of the shell.  This pushes out the part of the egg white that clings to the inside of the shell.  Every little bit counts and there’s no point in throwing out food, no matter how little.

When my family eats scrambled eggs we use at least 18 eggs.  The amount of white that I scoop/push out of the shell with my finger when breaking 18 eggs would easily be equivalent to one whole egg.  I sure wouldn’t throw out a whole egg.

Works for me!  Now go on over to Rocks in my Dryer and learn a jillion more helpful hints!  And remember, I’m bloggin’ at Frugal Hacks today, too!  I have a delicious Thanksgiving recipe for ya over there.

AH, I hate waste too. Just don’t forget to wash up after handling all that raw egg…..I didn’t realize how sick someone can get from them!
