My wonderful washer and dryer are in my garage which we will, starting now, refer to as “The Hold” because, ya know, it’s Piratey.
But The Hold? Well, it “holds” way too much stuff. Lately it’s been hazardous duty to help me with carrying the baskets of clothes to and fro. It’s just gotten so horribly cluttered up.
So The Cap’n’s job today was to just do a little straighten-up out there, so I can get around more easily.
Part of the problem is that I’m always asking my Very Dear Hubby to bring home boxes so I can declutter. And unless I use that box on the day he brings it home someone puts it “away” in The Hold and I promptly forget I own a box at all. So a few days later I ask my marvelous Hubby to bring me a box and we go ’round again.
But that’s just part of the problem. The rest of the problem is we just have way too much stuff out there which makes it really hard to get things out and really hard to put things away.
So all I asked for was a little straightening up. What I got was FIVE HOURS OF HARD LABOR!
That Pirate de-junkified the whole Hold!
He swept the whole floor! He made my laundry area much clearer!
I’m so happy! What a joy to go into The Hold for any reason. But tonight the best reason to go into The Hold is for a fun, after hours, ping-pong playin’ party!
Lessons learned while in The Hold.
- Stop hoarding toys they’ve outgrown.
- Stop asking for boxes.
- Check and make sure they’ve put stuff away properly.
- Ask for help with The Hold more often.
