Meal Plan Monday-November 10

Gasoline for under $2 a gallon?  I thought those days were gone for good.  I was amazed on Saturday when we paid $1.90 gal.  But you coulda knocked me over with a feather when we got into the grocery store and I saw that the peanut butter was down $0.17 from last week, store brand instant pudding mix was down by 4 cents, our favorite spaghetti sauce was down by 30 cents a jar, raisins were the deal of the week at a savings of 74 cents over last weeks price.  Lots of items were the same price as last week.  I have no idea if there will be a trend, I’m just happy that, for once, prices were down.

I have plans to do a lot of out of the ordinary tasks this week.  They are organizing tasks and yet I don’t feel very organized about it yet.  So, this week I am gonna just list the meals we are eating for the week.  I have no idea which days we will eat which meal, and it doesn’t matter.  All the meat is cooked, I can choose our meals at 4 o’clock each day.

Breakfasts:

  • Oatmeal
  • Malto Meal
  • Baked oatmeal
  • Cold cereal

Lunches:

  • Left-over dinners
  • Sandwiches on homemade whole wheat bread
  • Tortilla roll-ups

Dinners:

Because of the election results I feel the need to make sure I am being as frugal as I know how.

This next week I’ll be shopping at the commissary, which I find to be difficult, so pray for me.  Actually the difficult part is shopping anywhere except my regular HEB.  Unfamiliar territory, ya know?  But, the price of butter is makin’ me do it.  I’m thrilled to find a few lower prices, but the butter is still 45 cents higher per pound than it was 3 weeks ago.  So, I have to wonder, what about the cheese? or the toilet paper?  I know the answer for the meat, and so I need to re-learn my commissary.

Be sure to come back tomorrow for Help for Growing Families, but before you go back to Menu Plan Monday you are invited to enter my November giveaway.
