Free Music

free-stuff

Y’all want some free music?   Kim told me about this.

It’s called Pandora Internet Radio and it’s a free radio station.  Well, that’s not the whole truth.  It’s a whole bunch of online radio stations that only play YOUR kind of music.

I have never been all that technologically hip.  Or any other kinda hip, really (except the literal kind, ugh).   But, I remember thinking (many times) (back in the days of cassette tapes and LPs and no internet, just regular old am/fm radio.) (You know, when God’s dog was a puppy.) I remember thinking, why isn’t there a station that only plays the kinds of music that I like and not all this other garbage?  I would listen to the radio all the way to the grocery store only to have the music I like come on just as I found my parking space.  !%@?&#  (now, of course, I don’t swear, I just think the words “exclamation point, percent sign, at thingie, question mark, ampersand, tic-tac-toe” with extreme gusto)

And being the cheapo stingy tight-fisted frugal, thrifty, penny-pinching person that I am, I never could bring myself to buy very much music.  I know you are supposed to support the artists that you enjoy, but like I said, cheapo, stingy, tight-fisted frugal thrifty penny-pinching.  And besides, have you seen the lavish lifestyles of  the artists I enjoy?  I’ll just keep my money, thank you very much.

OK, maybe not quite that bad.

Anyway, here’s the link.  It’s so easy to use, just go and register.  I think it’s just enter your email and make a user name.  I’ve forgotten the details, but it’s easy.

Then you just create your stations by typing in the artists you enjoy, or you can type the kind of music, or the name of a song.  Then they use their spiffy software to line up a slew of songs by the artist you chose and others within the same genre (I don’t know why I hate that word, but I do, and if there were any other word that conveyed the same thought I would have used it.)  (Oh.  Well.  Style kinda covers it.)  (I guess).

Anyway, if they miss the mark and give you some music that you don’t care for, you just click a tiny ‘thumbs down’ and they never play that song again.   It’s pretty smart stuff there, and very easy to use.

I use it daily, all day long almost.  It’s just wonderful to not have to weed through the junk to get to the good stuff.

Once you get set up just click the button labeled “Create a New Station…” and type in Frosty the Snowman and you too can have Harry Connick Jr singing in your house today!

So click on the big Works for Me Wednesday image to get back to Rocks-in-my-Dryer to read some other ideas that pale in comparison to your new online radio station that will make your life easier and better.
