I don’t do much about breakfast. I have lots of excuses reasons.
- my Very Dear Hubby detests breakfast, particularly if served before 9am, and since he is gone by 8am, I am off the hook on weekdays, woohoo!
- my achin’ back doesn’t do the vertical thing before 9am. Truly, I have to get out of bed and walk, hunched over like Igor, to my desk and just sit for a good while before I can get up and do stuff. Sounds horrible, but I’ve adjusted.
- who needs more reasons?
I know, you’re wondering about my pitiful, starving Pirates. Not to worry, children adapt. They’ve learned to fend for themselves and each other where breakfast is concerned.
So, it’s mostly cold cereal or baked oatmeal. But I had a Eureka! moment when I saw this toaster on Amazon a couple of weeks ago.
Isn’t that just the cutest thing? I don’t know how long that egg is gonna take to cook in there, and I can’t imagine this machine being very practical for my family.
This seemed closer to what we would need. But, at $60 a pop we’re gonna pass.
But it did start the wheels turning in my head, because, now that we’ve been looking at eggs and toast cooking, an egg sandwich sounds pretty good right now, huh?
So, I have a toaster, and a microwave. And I know how to scramble an egg in the m’wave. Mine take 1½ minutes on high.

I know you’re wondering about my back and how I’ll manage to make my handy dandy microwaved egg sandwiches while seated.
I have a secret weapon. Actually, I have several secret weapons. I call them “hungry children who are responsible enough to operate the microwave.”

What a cute toaster!
FYI: If you make your egg in a coffee mug in the mike it is the perfect size for an english muffin a la mcdonald’s!
I’ve never tried scrambled eggs in the microwave. Must give it a try.
If they’re hungry, they’ll learn to cook real fast.
Great tip.
My husband wants the toast n egg. Just for himself mind you, me and the kid’ll fend for ourselves.
I do like nuked scrambled eggs though, anything to save cleaning the pan after cooking them the old fashioned way.
I have two boys and they are always hungry! It’s amazing what they can do for themselves when they want to eat!
