No, it’s not a typo, I just don’t like calling anybody a dummy. And I’m just not the brightest bulb in the coupon box.
So, I have voluntold Faith to be the CVS/Wags coupon shopping guru for my blog. Actually, she hasn’t been told yet. Excuse me for a minute.
Faith, do you mind helping us learn to shop for free or cheap? No? Good, I didn’t think you’d mind.
Let me take a minute and introduce y’all to Faith. Faith is a real life friend I have known since she was a little child, maybe 8 or 9 years old. Once she was old enough she became my baby-sitter and did that until she grew up. She is now a married lady with two daughters and a bun in the oven. I consider her my daughter.
She is also the whiz-bangy-est CVS/Wags shopper I know. She “buys” great quantities of free/cheap items at these two stores and does wonderful things like giving the items to homeless shelters and re-selling items at flea markets and wrapping up gift baskets full of free items as gifts for her friends.
So, the following is an email that Faith sent me. She really is patient. She has told me this stuff about 437 times already.

1. now, you must group your purchases in the amount of your $/$$ coupon for cvs
2. look for scenarios on the sites for cvs purchases…. they do the hard work for you (limit yourself to two or three scenarios)
3. always print your plan out and take it with you (write down which coupons you will use and paper clip them in groups)
4. these sites will tell you which (date) insert to get your coupons out of for each deal, so if you dont clip them ahead..its
ok…there is a date on the spine of the insert. Just keep them filed.
There you have it. My plan is to just buy the items I know I will use, even if it’s diapers to give to my pregnant friends. That counts.
I think I will also do some pretend shopping, in my head, just to practice.
I am really stumped as to why this is so difficult for me to understand, but I am determined to make it work. I just have a hunch that the light bulb above my head is gonna come on at some point if I just persevere. That’s the way I have learned every other hard thing in my life, just keep doing it and doing it until I get the hang of it.
So, here’s my current CVS progress report. I walked into CVS last Thursday intending to buy some vitamins and get some CVS brand baby wipes for free. Faith said the vitamins are on 2 for the price of 1 @ $10.99. I had a $3 off/$15 purchase and a $3 off CVS brand coupon (that one was for the wipes). I forgot my $1 off Natures Bounty coupon at home. (I’m tellin’ ya!) So, I was a little upset with myself when I realized, on the way into the store, that I didn’t have that one with me. Then once inside, I couldn’t find the product. And I was tired and still had the grocery shopping to do. So, I just cut my losses and left the store empty handed, figuring I would come back another time (with my coupon, duh) and ask for the product by name. Did I mention I couldn’t think of what the vitamins are called? Good grief! Not the most auspicious start, huh?
