Congratulations! You have been to to Ship Full O' Pirates over 100 times! Just thought you'd like to know.
When you ask a small child to make his own bed, don’t expect a miracle. Unless you set one up ahead of time.
My smaller kids beds are dressed in a mattress pad and fitted sheet, a pillow with a pillow case, and a blanket.
TA-DA! Miracle waiting to happen.
All he has to do to make his bed is put his pillow at the top of the bed and fold his blanket. It’s up to Mama where the blanket belongs. We usually put them near the foot of the bed. But, depending on how the furniture is arranged and how the traffic flows through the room I might have them put that blanket on top of the pillow. I have heard of some folks who put the blanket away altogether. Some in a closet, some in a cedar chest. We just have a designated location on the bed.
- Gets done right.
- Looks tidy when it’s done.
- Stays neat throughout the day.
That’s all I want out of the deal.

Smart…..I have tried the top sheets too, but never lasts…just a bottom is so much easier.
I love this, and I ought to do it! We live in PA where it gets terribly cold, so I put several layers of bedding on their beds. However, only one child (the oldest) actually gets under those blankets. The others use only their throw blanket that’s on top, because they don’t like to make their beds!
Very good idea! I think top sheets just get in the way. All of my kids love their blankets better. Of course, we need more than just 1 blanket up here in the winter. I know one gal who only buys the fitted sheet for all of their beds. Why bother when it’s only going to get scrunched down to the bottom of the bed!
