Congratulations! You have been to to Ship Full O' Pirates over 100 times! Just thought you'd like to know.
All of my recent attention to coupon shopping has had far reaching consequences. OK, maybe not FAR reaching, but the concept of being more frugal and saving more money is having a bigger impact than I anticipated.
I ended up spending about 25% less than normal at the grocery this week. That’s kinda wonderful! Sometime when I have had more sleep I am gonna see if I can find out how that happened so I can do it again.
- Monday – Rice and Beans
- Tuesday – Spaghetti Mac Bake
- Wednesday – Crockpot Carnitas
- Thursday – Rice and Beans
- Friday – Chicken Tacos
- Saturday – Linguini Alfredo
- Sunday – BBQ Sausage with Rice
The BBQ Sausage is a dish I make in the crockpot. It’s the easiest (weirdest) dish I know.
You just cut up some smoked sausage, I like the Bar S Polish sausage, and toss it into the crockpot. Then you put a whole bottle of cheap bbq sauce into your medium sauce pan. Then add half a jar of grape jelly and stir.
Sounds crazy, I know. It’s one of those things ya kinda have to eat first, learn how it’s made after. But since you won’t be here on Sunday, you hafta know the grizzley truth ahead of time.
Anyway, heat the sauce a little, and stir, the jelly will kinda melt and blend with the bbq sauce. Then pour it onto the sausage in the crockpot. You are just gonna heat it up good in the crockpot, so do it on high if you are in a hurry, low if ya have more time. But there’s no need to leave it on for longer than 4 hours.
Serve it over rice. Very yummy!
You could also use (cooked) meatballs instead of sausage.
Weird sounding. Delicious tasting!
My new BIG IDEA!
Heads up for this Thursday. I’m starting a new Mister Linky on Thursdays called Mother Hen’s Homemade Thursday. A wonderful place to link your “do it yourself” posts or any brag posts on your craft projects, or just your favorite new lunch casserole created out of desperation.
Anyway, if you have a post about something you made yourself, please come back next Thursday and link up.
Try to include photos and instructions or links that take us to the instructions, so we can try it too!
I hope you’ll join in!

Ha Ha Ha, well it was pretty good!! Kinda like a sweedish weenie!! I served it over brown rice and had a whole wheat kaiser roll too…and a salad…. : )
But, because you KNOW, it’s just a baby step, not a leap.
I am gonna go right now and put those ingredients in my crockpot as per your recipe. I know how your meals usually go, and you know how to make delicious food!!!!! So, I am gonna take a leap here!
