Congratulations! You have been to to Ship Full O' Pirates over 100 times! Just thought you'd like to know.

Cannonball Jack saw this on some blog I was reading and decided he’d like to give it a try.  I’m love doin’ crafts/science experiments that are easy and use ingredients that I already have on hand.

You need:

  • Elmer’s glue
  • Borax Powder

Here’s how:

  • Fill a cup with water and add a spoonful (or more if you want) of the Borax powder and stir it up good.
  • Fill another cup with about 1/2 inch of glue.
  • Add three tablespoons of water to the glue and stir.
  • Add two tablespoons of the Borax solution and stir well. Ewwww!  Slime!
  • Lift out the spoon with the slime and place it on the dish.
  • Let it sit for about 30 seconds and then pull it off the spoon and play with it!

If it doesn’t get horribly dirty you can save it in a zippy bag.   This was a ton of fun.  And it takes about 3 minutes unless you count the time you are gonna spend watching YouTube vids of kids making all kinds of slime.

  • Low investment
  • Minimal effort
  • Huge grins on all the kids!

Cannonball had so much fun and loved the slime so much that he named his.  Bob.

    haha! That’s hilarious!

The problem with the colors went by the wayside once they had the (white) slime in their hands. They can tell whose is whose by the kind of trash each has accumulated. Cannonball has kept his clean, The Squid’s is kinda dingy, The Princess got hair in hers (ewww! It’s in the trash already!)

LOL – I was going to suggest an alternative, but I can’t think of one. Essential oils? “Whose slime is ground into the carpet?? It’s lavendar scented!” LOL Could you maybe use a drop or two of paint? (No idea if that would stain or not…)

Shhh! Because we don’t “do” food colors I had to talk up the white slime quite a bit. ;)

Fun! We just did this, and it worked great! So quick and easy. I did add 7 drops of food coloring to each child’s blob so they knew whose was whose. 7 drops made a really vibrant color, so that should keep it from looking dingy after a lot of play.

This is one of our favorite “experiments” to do. It’s a great rainy-day activity. Glad to see you guys like it too. =0)
