Congratulations! You have been to to Ship Full O' Pirates over 100 times! Just thought you'd like to know.
Hi, my name is Mother Hen, and I have a bad memory.
Seen the movie Finding Nemo? That blue fish, Dory, with no short term memory? Yes, almost that bad.
So, I can’t remember how I found out about this (ahem), maybe StumbleUpon. But it is a wonderful help to me.
It’s a site called Memo to Me. Cute name, huh? It’s a free site where you can schedule reminders that will be emailed to you.
You just sign up for an account, it’s free and easy. Take you about a minute. Then you start setting up what ever in the world you wanna be reminded about. And that part is easy, too.
Forget birthdays? No problem. Forget anniversaries? No problem.
But today? Today I had an epiphany. It was a sparkling moment. It was the moment I realized that I can use Memo to Me to remind me about things other than birthdays and anniversaries. Sounds simple, I know, but life changing none the less.
For example, Cannonball Jack has neglected the feeding and watering of our gerbils. A LOT!!! That Pirate ought to have learned his lesson by now. I had to ask myself, “What will make my words more meaningful to him?” OOOH! I know, I should say different words. I will say these words, “You are grounded from the computer for a month! And if, during that month, I find a gerbil cage without food or water, I will add another month.” Those words had muuuuuch more meaning for him.
Now we have fat, quenched gerbils. Happy, energetic, reproducing gerbils. And it better STAY that-a-way!
But, now we have a whole new problem. I have to remember when his month ends. Bummer.
Until today. And my moment of brilliantly putting 2 together with the other 2. TADA! Thank you Memo to Me. You have forever revolutionized the grounding/ungrounding process.
OOOH! OOOOH! And I can set it to remind me when to water the plants.
Also, Day Spring Christian e-cards are free.
Sooooo, you can have Memo to Me remind you about your best friend’s birthday (mine is June 30th… just sayin’…) and you can send a lovely, Christian, birthday e-card. All for free!
Here’s your shortcut back to Works-for-me-Wednesday!

I haven’t heard of this. Thanks for the tip!
You crack me up! I think I would need reminders to check my memos to me! lol!
You’re welcome Heather. You have entertaining, well written posts. I enjoy reading them. And I am still trying to work out how to get that giant tp dispenser to fit in my bathroom.
Hi Jenny -
This is a great tip, I’ll have to check into it.
I also want to say thank you for the sweet comments you leave on my “baby” blog; it’s so nice of you to come over and read my (much more sporadic than yours) posts and take the time to post.
Makes my day every time!
Blessings, Heather
What a good idea! I read a good post today about how to clean a microwave. The problem is that I have anew clean microwave. I joined memoe to me and sent a reminder of how to clean the microwave in a month. Thanks!
As a fella-Dory, this could possibly be the best ever WFMW. Seriously. I’m going right now to put it in “favorites”. You know, before I forget! =0) Thanks!!
That looks great…my memory is way gone!

I am right there with ya! This may be the greatest tip EVER. I am going to check this out RIGHT now! Lisa~
Your blog is really an inspiration to me in Charlotte Mason homeschooling. I can’t begin to thank you, but I have left you an award on my blog. You can grab it at http://www.misscarie.blogspot.com

Oh, and I love your blog layout too!
I love it! I will be trying it out soon!
Oh, my gosh, I need this! I try so hard to pay my bills on time, but sometimes one or two will fly away from me. I’m going to sign up and try this–maybe I won’t have so many late fees!
