Gratituesday – More fun

We played with our lunch today.  I know, the normal song I sing at lunch goes more like, “Stop playing with your food and eat already!”  Today it was the opposite.  “Don’t eat that yet!  Play with it a little first!”

??? Confused???

We had play dough for lunch.  It’s ok, I made it outta food.  It was the best lunch time ever.  The kids all had a blast.  And they ate pretty good, and cleaned up very thoroughly.  Amazing what a little laughter at lunch does for everyone’s attitude!

I read a lot of recipes while putting together my Help for Growing Families post and ended up just winging it.  This stuff is really hard to mess up.

Here’s what I did (approx.):

  • 1 jar peanut butter (we used natural, don’t know if that matters)
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder (if you are gonna have fun it may as well be chocolate)
  • 1 ½ cups dry milk powder
  • ’bout ½ cup honey

I used my mixer, but it seemed like it mixed pretty easily, I think you could just use a spoon.

I set out little bowls of  “decorations”:

  • peanuts
  • raisins
  • craisins
  • dried pineapple (yum)
  • I would have included chocolate chips if I’d had any

We had some kinda fun.  We are all grateful for edible play dough.

Makes me wish my daughter was little (she’s 21) just so I could make this.
