Got a laptop? Does it heat your lap up? The Cap’n (age 16) saved me $56.99 + shipping and handling of imaginary money.
I say imaginary money because there is absolutely no way I was gonna buy one. But we have one now. And it cost absolutely nuthin’! And it works like a charm!
He made it all out of scrap lumber and screws we already had on hand. There is no pattern. He just measured the width of the ‘puter and worked out the rest in his head!
Works for me!

That’s a great idea, Ritsumei! I think I have both kinds of paint on hand, too!
Works for me too! And if you wanted to pretty it up you could spray paint it white & then splatter paint it. I’m sure pirates would be more than pleased to help with that project!
I think this is great. Your son has the ‘eye’. Can anyone say design classes?

Hi Dot and Angela! I may paint it, eventually. I’m not very concerned with the aesthetics. I’m all about the pragmatic aspect.
Hey that’s pretty neat. I bet I could get my husband to make on of those. With a little fabric, filler, and some staples, you could make a nice little cushion for the part that goes on your lap!

That is a great frugal tip! I’d go one further and paint it or cover it with something…I’m all about the visual. LOL

Me thinks it’s time to put me boy to work! He loves hammers, wood and nails. In fact my pastor keeps asking how he and his wife can “come along side” and help us with the education of our children. He loves woodworking in his spare time and has been gifted a lot of tools. I asked him a few weeks ago about teaching my son woodworking. My DH is a gifted woodworker but we don’t have many tools or any place currently to use them even if we did. What is it about men and wood?

Way cool. My son Charlie and I could proably make something for my wife’s laptop from my dad’s lumber pile.
