For the record, we do not employ Santa or the Easter Bunny.  I think both of those things get in between kids and God.

The tooth fairy is an all together different story.  We didn’t do the fairy for the boys’ teeth, that’s dumb.  Boys don’t wanna be treated that way.  I paid cold, hard cash on the spot for all those boy teeth.  And the less carrying on, the higher the pay out.

But when a Princess looses a tooth she wants to drift off to sleep aware of that special lump under her pillow and dreaming about what that fairy will bring, and what the fairy would look like if she could just hold her eyes open long enough to catch a shimmery glimpse.

And since I was sitting in my rocker crocheting a crazy colored (was gonna be) deodorant applicator at the time she started to fall apart, we put the (rinsed off, of course, Mother Hen does NOT do blood!) tooth, wrapped securely in a paper napkin, into the (now transformed) way special, crazy colored, miniature tooth fairy basket.  All set to be tucked under the royal pillow, to await being filled by tiny, fairy hands with some wonderful treasures.

Well, I didn’t prepare for this, but it seems to me that a fairy is an odd creature.  And fairy treasure (and Princess treasure, too) is not always from a store or new for that matter.  So here it is…

THE LOOT

the-loot-004

  • 2 peppermints
  • 2 quarters
  • 2 orphaned keys, one with a tag
  • a partially used page of Christmas stickers (trust me, she’ll love that!)
  • 1 flower petal fairy that I made before I ever had my Princess

The small things are tucked inside the fairy basket and all of the loot is perched in the window sill above The Princess’ bed.  That’s where fairies hang out, ya know, in window sills above herb gardens to the east and Princess pillows to the west.

Here’re your shortcuts back to Frugal Friday and Finer Things.

We did the tooth fairy at first, but then the fairy kept forgetting to come. Then Angela asked if Jesus turned the tooth to the money and we stopped. Now they don’t even show me the tooth or the blood. They just show me the hole and I give them a buck.

Guess that’s what happens when you’ve got a large family!!! I do a lot of telling them to clamp their mouth closed when they start losing teeth quickly!
