Homemade Macaroni and Cheese

Posted by: MotherHen   in Casseroles, Vittles

This one is easier than the old one we used to like, it’s also tastier!

You’ll need:

Sauce

  • 1½ cups thin white sauce
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, grated
  • 2 T minced onion
  • 1 t dry mustard
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • ½ cup dry milk powder
  • 1 cup cottage cheese

Pasta

  • 1 lb whole wheat macaroni, cooked
  • 1 T butter

Combine sauce ingredients in sauce pan, mix well.  Cook until thickened, stirring constantly.  Stir in macaroni gently.  Pour into 9×13 and dot with butter.  Cover and bake at 350° for 20 minutes.  Remove cover and sprinkle more cheese or bread crumbs over top and bake for 10 minutes more.

This is almost as easy to make as the garbage in the box and this is very nutritious with no questionable ingredients!
