Just in case you don’t know, his name is Art Linkletter, you know, MrLinky!
Yes, I am recanting my oath against MrLinky. Turns out MrLinky can be used for good and is not necessarily all evil. The true confession is my stats are way down and I am now trying to build traffic with the help of MrLinky. I may even try a Linky of my own, don’t know yet. If you have any ideas on that let me know.
So, here’s my best kitchen tip of the season.
It’s hot in the kitchen! Get out of there!
Oh, but the family still wants to eat, don’t they? I know it’s not a new concept to cook out, but there are more ways to do that than with a BBQ grill and some chicken thighs. (but that may be the tastiest way)
No, I’m talking about the solar ovens and the roaster on my back patio.
Most of y’all know I am in Texas, or as one reader and fellow Texan called it THE FACE OF THE SUN!!!
Yup, it’s hot here a lot of the time, but we have really been having more than our share of hot, humid days this May. It’s already been over 100° more than once. That’s usually reserved for July and August.
Anyway, the thing is we have decided to NOT run our air conditioner. I’m actually running a poll about how you use your a/c, look in the right sidebar at the top. Have you voted?
Back to the topic at hand, my kitchen is hot and I don’t want to exacerbate the situation. So I am doing as little cooking indoors as possible. Even the crockpot can go out back on the patio.
We have a dog so I put the appliances on an old table to keep her from letting her gluttony and covetousness cause her a nasty burn.
And we don’t leave the appliances outside all the time. I think I might if I had a nice patio cover, but I don’t, so I don’t.
I hope that gets your wheels turning thinking about ways to keep your house and kitchen cooler without breaking the bank in the process!
Here’s your shorcut to Kitchen Tip Tuesdays to read tons of other good ideas for your kitchen!
