My “New” ‘Burban

What a relief!  Having a reliable car is something that is easy to take for granted, until you don’t have transportation at all.  Then you start seeing things in a new light all of a sudden.

So, here are the photos of my new ride.

I my ‘Burban!  I might name it.  It’s just so pretty with it’s white exterior and it’s tan interior.

Sorry, it’s dark outside right now and the dark vehicle lurking in the shadows is the massive, black, icky van.

Gotta love all that head room for growing kids.  The cargo hold grocery compartment is nice and roomy as well.

Nice clean 3rd row seats peanut gallery.

The versatile 2nd row came fully equiped with 4 drink holders, a travel tissue pack compartment, and a hairy legged, teenaged cowboy.  Wait, I think I know that cowboy.

Nice, tight headliner.  Not too shabby for a 13 year old ‘Burban.

Lots of lovely knobs and buttons that really make stuff happen when you deploy them.  Very swanky!

Look!  There’s that cowboy again.  He looks more familiar behind his head-gear, huh?

The front, bucket seats have covers on them to protect/hide some upholstery damage.  You can’t know how little I care ’bout that.

One of the way cool things about us getting this Suburban today is that hubs called me up at about 9;15 or 9;20 or so to say, “Why don’t you look on craigslist.com?  That’s where Jeff found his car.”

I looked up craiglist.com and found the cars & trucks bit and entered our max price and the word Suburban and the first one listed at the top was the one we ended up buying.  I had a good feeling about it from the start.  Their ad said things that were important to me.  It was a good match from the start, so I called the number using my cell phone which is important because I just now checked what time I made the call.  9:34.  The ad for my car listed at 9:30.

Craigslist.com works for me.

Here’s your shortcut back to Works for me Wednesday.

  1. We love Suburbans, too. We had one given to us, fixed it up, and ended up calling it Babe the Blue Ox (or was that the tractor?) because it could sometimes out-pull our tractor! We also love craigslist – online yard sales!! Have a great day!

We just bought a Suburban last December. Our truck died. I LOVE it. My hubby & I fight over who gets to drive it. Considering he has a 1 hour commute each way, I usually win. ;-)

Oh, I don’t have a problem with defending my 8 passenger vehicle to the child haters. Our over-all “carbon foot-print” is much lower, as a family, than most folks with 2 or 1 or even 0 kids.

I feel your joy! Yah… enjoy. I know it’s currently not “in vogue” to have big cars but for those of us with large families it is a necessary evil. The DH was watching a science channel show on cars of the future over the weekend and they were all tiny and skinny. That’s all well and good but where am I supposed to put the kids? Tie them on the roof? Attach 5+ side cars? Hood ornaments? Super glue? I myself am still thinking the Amish mode of horse and buggy might be our only option in the future.
