Congratulations! You have been to to Ship Full O' Pirates over 100 times! Just thought you'd like to know.
I am so excited! I can barely contain myself! My hubs is out right now buying a Suburban for us. I found it on craigslist.com.
Our OLD, nasty, I-hate-it-and-have-always-hated-it van has bit the dust! Finally! It was a long, slow, painful death. And now it’s complete. The oil pump went out on the way home from church on Sunday, putting the total cost of really repairing it (back to what it ought to be) way beyond what is reasonable to spend on the old hunk o’ junk!
These things never happen at a good time. And even though we are able to buy the “new” Suburban outright, this is not how we had those particular dollars earmarked. God is good. We are able to buy the “new” Suburban outright! That is a huge blessing. Those other plans can wait.
I know my sentences are a bit jumbled, I told ya I am excited! I♥ Suburbans! The vehicle we had before the horrid van was a Suburban and I loved that old blue Suburban. The “new” one is white. I’ll post some photos after hubs brings it home.
I got to ride in it while hubs and his friend test drove it. It’s a nice ride. The body and the interior are in great condition. It has a good paint job, new tires, new a/c! And lots of other commendable attributes!
Let’s compare to the old ride. The nasty van.
- None of the doors latch shut, they have to be belted or bungee corded. I take it back, the rear/cargo doors work. That’s how the children have been getting in and out for many months.
- One window busted out and plastic is taped in it’s place.
- No steps to get in. It’s always been difficult for me to get into, none of the rest of the family finds this to be an issue.
- Has an “unfindable” leak in the power steering fluid system. Been that way since before we got it.
- No a/c, front or rear.
- No heat.
- No vent fan.
- I won’t even list the mechanical needs/deficits, except that it drove it’s last miles on Sunday.
The nasty van is dead!
Long live the great Suburban!

Well that’s nicer than some things we’ve been called before.

Great news! Our Suburban died almost 2 years ago and we have been squeezing into one vehicle (seven in a five seater) until last year when we bought another five seater. (are we hicks or what?) Now when we go any where with all 8 of us we travel in two vehicles. Praying for a 12 or 15 passenger this next year. However it looks like an RV may be in our future as we will be traveling to homeschool conferences across the country with my husband’s work on The Homeschool Channel. Ready or not, we hit the road–well, most of us, anyway–next week for Iowa.
Enjoy your new wheels…especially the air conditioning!!
Sorry to hear that the van died, but so happy that you all will know have a suburban that you can get into like normal folks. I love suburbans too. I love the feeling of driving a truck. But we are past the ability to fit in a beautiful suburban so we have the big blue van. LOL But it has great a/c front and back!!
