Too Hot for May

It seems really hot today and we are trying hard to not use our air conditioner.  It’s a loosy-goosey plan.  I will go without the expensive machine untill I just can’t stand it anymore.

I always get discouraged by hearing all of our neighbors a/c units grumbling away all day long.  We have one neighbor who keeps his a/c on even when it’s in the 60′s outside.  I guess maybe he has asthma or allergies or something.

So, what’s your plan for the summer heat?  Are you gonna run your a/c?

I usually wait until it is around 80 to turn on the ac. The nights around here are really warm in the summer too, so the house doesn’t cool down every well durring the night time. We have little baby trees growing around the house, so someday I hope to be able to use less.

I just moved all of our school items and the kids toys into the lower level of our house. It is the basement but has windows so it is really pleasant down here. We are heading to California next week to pick up our swamp cooler that was stored with my parents. We will use that during the day and when hubby gets home he will probably turn the a/c on when it is bedtime. But we are just now getting into the 70′s. I’m so thankful we do not live somewhere humid – yuck!

It’s humidity that really gets me. But our AC depends on the DH. It’s a window unit that he puts in for the summer and takes down for the cooler months. So until he puts it in we just throw open the windows and doors. But, uhm… like mentioned above… we’re Michiganders, so we really don’t have the heat for too long and if it gets really unbearable we just jaunt over to Lake Michigan and spend the day swimming!

Man, can we say porch swing? I sit and put the sprinkler on my feet…..works like a charm!

You know… temp doesn’t mean a lot when you have high humidity. THAT’s the killer when it get’s hot, and in that case a ceiling fan is the BEST!
I can tolerate pretty warm (unless I’m pregnant, which I am) in that case all bets are off!
I wonder how hot it can get in northern Idaho? Hmmm… A/C nor Fan will help where there is no electricity. In that case it’s a creek or lake… or a bucket full of water! :-)

We only have 2 or 3 weeks where it is terrible. So we have a window unit in a bedroom/playroom/tv room and we all hide in there from 4-6pm.

Well, I didn’t mean for there to be geographical limits, Lois, that’s why I put that choice on there about not having an a/c. That is what you said, right?

I have skewed your poll by voting, even though I live in Michigan. Ooops.
