My Work Here is Done

Congratulations! You have been to to Ship Full O' Pirates over 100 times! Just thought you'd like to know.

Those of you who do not know us in real life are unaware that we are suffering a viral disaster.

The mom got sick first!

Of all things!  And y’all, I got it bad.  I thought I was dyin’.  It was pathetic.

I’m over it now, but, this is so weird to have already had the bug I am expecting my kids to all fall victim to.  (bad grammar, I know, did I mention I’ve been ill?)

Sally Mae, my faithful nurse and comforter when ill, is the second to succumb.

Anyhow, so today I am cleaning bathrooms and making sure that other cleaning is taking place, accomplished by folks who are doomed not yet ill.

Blah, blah, blah y’all have all gone through this, but my eldest son said to me something a mother waits her whole career to hear.

I had Tex organize the lower kitchen cupboards because … well… you know how they get.  Stuff was falling out of ‘em and I couldn’t find the things I wanted.  Tex is a grand organizer.  He did a great job.  Then he gave me this pearl of wisdom.  He said,

“Now, if people will just put things back where they belong…”

I can die a happy mom!

My efforts have not been in vain!

My work here is done!

I know, I should give that cowboy a haircut, then my work is done.  Oh yeah, and the other children may need a touch more guidance and instruction.  Oh forget it.  A mother’s work is never done, huh?

Do I dare add a category labeled Tongue in Cheek?

I have to say, keep training ‘em. Although, Tex has been an organizer since birth, so I really can’t take much credit.

I’m so sorry you and yours are ill. That is a bummer. Can you send me up Tex? I have more than a few cupboards and closets and rooms and garages he can help me with… ahhhh… do himself… I just can’t ever seem to get to such a simple task. I love to organize but it often falls to the bottom of the to-do list. I seem to be the only one of the seven of us who puts things back where they go. Sigh. Yet, you give me hope. My kids are still young. Glad you are feeling better.

Aw – we just went through a bout of illness, too. Hope it doesn’t make the full round!

Tex sounds just like my husband, and my oldest daughter – both are organizing wonders! I’m working on putting things away…really, I am! :-)

Oh no, I’m sorry you were sick. I was wondering were you’ve been. Hope you are feeling much better.

Oh no! Oh you poor thing! My heart goes out to you. Ooooooohhhh I’m sending loves your way.

    YAY for Tex! =)

Soooooo……how do you raise ‘em so when they’re a hormone-raging teenager they don’t yell profanities at you?
