Chocolate is where it’s at!

Simple fact of nature.  I know y’all are all on board with me on that one, right?

Well, I’ve been having trouble getting the chocolate into my mouth while keeping the sugar (and artificial sweeteners) out of my mouth.  This is a dilemma!

Until!  I was reading on Facebook a while ago (See, Hubs?  Facebook has actual value!) anyway, I was reading what Kim said (while wearing her Frugal Hacks disguise) that her Frappuccino recipe was really yummy and just like the real (4bucks) thing.

I read the recipe and almost cried when I read the sugar part, almost, but not quite, because I already knew the good stuff (frappuccin0) had the bad stuff (sugar, aka vile poison) in it.

So, I got up from my computer thought about it  for a bit.  And it finally struck me.  Duh, don’t put sugar in it, put Agave Nectar instead.  Yes!  This will work!

You see, I have been suffering from the overbearing thought that, while I can bake with Agave Nectar, I don’t really know how.  I mean, it’s a liquid. Even less viscous than honey.  So I just don’t see any cake or cookies happenin’ for me anytime soon.

btw ~  If any of y’all know where I can find dessert recipes using Agave Nectar instead of sugar, GREAT! Shoot me a link!

So I RAN to the kitchen and got out all the ingredients for a MOCHA FRAPUCCINO and in no time had whizzed myself up TWO great big glasses of the lovely elixer!  One is in the freezer for this afternoon.

NOW it feels like the weekend!  Shoot, it feels like a PARTY!

Psst! Is it afternoon yet?

Here’s your link to Frugal Friday.

Well my dear, I have kept a blog called Altered Plates that is dedicated to using agave nectar instead of other sweeteners in my baked goods and other desserts. Please come visit. Lots of cakes, cookies, and brownies, not to mention ice creams made with agave nectar. All recipes tested for success, and all include photos.

    Good luck!

Hi Anita! I’m happy to hear from you! You are such a good girl for being able to keep a stash and not plow through it all at once. And yes, I feel your pain on the Algebra teaching. I get all het-up just from teaching Algebra 1/2. That’s my outer limit, mathematically, right now. But I disagree about the cola habit. All that caffeine and all that sugar. That’s a lot to just scratch from your daily intake. Your body FEELS that very acutely. Lara @The Lazy Organizer has a great post about how to quit eating sugar. Hope that helps.

  4. aahh chocolate!! Yes, I understand your dilemma!! I keep a hidden chocolate stash for myself on those stressful days or days that I just want a taste of heaven. Dh even added to my stash the other day with bag of chocolate caramel squares. I was good yesterday and didn’t touch my stash, but I think a small bite is calling me now!! I think I will oblige as I head to my research/reference room in just a moment (my garden tub). I have done algebra 2 with my 16 yo and need to reward myself!!

While not going sugar-free yet (that is on my list….after gluten-free), I have been Coke free for about 4 weeks now and am doing well!! I think it is more mental that anything!
