Justification!

If I clean something while I goof off is it really and truly goofing off?

Did you ever notice how the things we look at all the time get dirty right before our very eyes and sometimes we don’t notice the grime because it comes on kinda gradual-like?

The Confession

My kids and I sat here at the computer this morning for a good while watching stand up comedy on youtube.  Really.

The Justification

And while we were sitting here goofing off I just happened to notice that my keyboard was filthy!

It never occurred to me to take a before photo and if it had I wouldn’t publish it anyway.

I used a dinner knife and some windex wipes and really had at it while we laughed our faces off at Brian Regan.  This was my favorite one but here’s a whole page of them.  He’s a hoot, and he doesn’t swear or tell off color jokes.  Don’t see that everywhere ya look, huh?

We LOVE Brian! Actually saw him once years ago. My fave is the ironing board bit!

I also clean my keyboard! But I take a picture of it and then pop off all the buttons. It’s so disgusting under those keys!! Then I put it all back together. Surprisingly it doesn’t take that long.

I’ve heard you can wash them in the dishwasher but I’m not brave enough to try!

Hi Shelly,
Yeah, I have read about doing the “deep clean” on the keyboard, but, if I do that then I’ll know what’s under there and I’ll have to do it every week. Ignorance is bliss! ;)

Did you see the spelling bee one? “I before E except after C and when sounding like A as in neighbor and weigh, and on weekends and holidays and all throughout May, you’ll always be wrong no matter what you say!” Too funny! And if we could write all the spelling rules to be this funny my kids would know the rest of them and not just this one. Because this one? Down cold! :D

Brian Regan is one of our very favorite comedians. We listened to “Stupid in School” last night, as a matter of fact. “The big yellow one is the SUN!”

OK, don’t laugh. I remember making a “rock” for science fair. Out of dirt, and um, water. I was so shocked at how much my teacher got into it! I bet she tossed back a few in the teachers lounge before “judging” our 2nd grade science fair garbage! Ok, laugh! :D

Oh, man, now we’re done for – took a few minutes and showed the children a few things this morning – the ironing board, walking on the moon, but their favorite was the “rooty tooty aim ‘n shooty!” Yes, hubby and I saw the spelling bee.

I agree – kids remember the wisecracks and jokes more than the real rules. I admit I often use a lot of wisecracks when I’m teaching because it breaks the tension, leaves ‘em laughing, and… they remember! :-)

Sigh of relief! Glad to be one of the commenting elite again!
