Smells like Christmas!

When you need your house to smell wonderful and Christmas-y right away, get out your big pot and fill it about halfway with water.  Slice up a couple of apples, oranges, lemons (any combo ya like, all I had today was apples, so that’s all I used) and toss them into the pot.  Then add your favorite Christmas-y spices.

  • Cinnamon
  • Nutmeg
  • Allspice
  • Cloves

A teaspoon or so of each.  Then bring the pot to a boil and turn it down to a slow simmer.  Leave it uncovered.  Add water throughout the day as needed.

This gives your home a nice Holiday feel!  And also you get the added benefit of throwing some water vapor into the air.

If you have a live Christmas tree (or pine trees in your yard) you can throw in some sprigs of pine to add that “Christmas tree” scent to the medley. I wonder what pine cones would do…

Too bad you can’t drink it when you’re done.
Maybe a bit of apple juice in the crockpot, with a bruised apple and spices added? Could pass for mulled cider when you’re done sniffing the air.
    :D

    Hi Cyndi,
The added benefit is that if you have any apples that look weird or bruised then you can use them for this and not feel like they went to waste! :D
I don’t like throwing food away, but nobody likes a bruised up apple!

I think I’ll be trying this today! Much better than some synthetic candle.
