Welcome to Fit as a Farmhand!
Getting fit and losing weight are kinda touchy topics and I want you to only post what you are comfortable with. No fun telling too much to the www and regretting it for all eternity.
Weight Loss
I am not comfortable telling you how much I currently weigh. However I will be very excited to report any and all losses! I’m counting today’s weight as my starting point, so no losses YET.
Exercise
I will also be keeping track of my exercise routine, but I won’t bore you with a daily rundown of each and every workout. Right now I’m using the Leslie Sansome Walk Away the Pounds. I’ve been rather sedentary for the past few weeks so I’m starting out with the one mile walk. I’ve been at it since Monday last week (Dec. 28th).
Diet
I have a simple dietary plan that I’ll amend as needed. It’s the NO WHITE FOOD plan.
- No white flour
- No white rice
- No white pasta
- No processed sugar
I will eat white potatoes in limited quantities, but only occasionally. For sweetener I’ll be using Agave Nectar or honey. AND I’ll eat anything Sally Mae Cooks! But I’ll limit the quantity drastically if it’s a treat (read: forbidden food). And not one bite of food after supper. At all.
Oh yeah, and I’m not gonna do a “BEFORE” photo.
You’re welcome.
I do hope to have good reason to post some progress photos along the way!
I’m being pretty easy on myself. I know from past experience that if I start up like gang busters (as I am wont to do) then I’ll burn out in no time. So I’m starting slow and easy on purpose.
Instructions
If you’d like to participate in my linky the first thing you need to do is write your post about your fitness/weight-loss plan, progress or whatever ya have along those lines. If you like, you may put my banner in your post. Add a link to this post and then come back here and sing up on the MckLinky.
To sign up on the linky you need to click the words “you are next” and that opens a new tab with the form for you to fill out. It’s just 2 blanks. The first one says “Title”. That’s for your name and then, in parenthesis, the name of your post. The second blank is for your permalink to your post. Don’t use the URL for your Homepage, use the one to your post. If you don’t know how to find the permalink then click here to read a good article on how to do that.
I’d sure be tickled to see my button in your sidebar when I visit your blog. Not a requirement though.
This all sound much more complex than it is. Give it a try and you’ll see. And if you have any trouble just say so in the comments and I’ll see if I can help.

Cooking from scratch is generally more healthy than using convenience foods. And cooking from scratch IS more difficult than using convenience foods. It’s a skill, and like any other skill, you just have to practice. The more you cook, the better you’ll get.
Do you find that it is the cooking health meals that takes time to learn?
Okay, Okay, I’ve been spending very little time on the computer but I’m going to have to join in on this one. I’ll make my best effort to post on our weight loss/healthy changes for next week’s linky.
Hi Melanie!
Thank you both, so much, for participating this week. Hopefully we’ll have lots of company next week!
Walking is the one thing I consistently did during my pregnancies (even when I was trying to gain weight after an illness and trying to get preggo the first time) so I say get the clearance from your doc/midwife and then go for it. If nothing else a leisurely stroll will help with stress, which may help those who are trying to conceive.
Just what’s worked for me, tho.
As for me personally, I’ll participate on the fitness side of it. Not trying to lose any weight, but trying hard to gain muscle – I can use the inspiration!
I’m thankful to Yart over at My Adventures in Sustainable Living for pointing this meme out – FUN!
Thanks for hosting!
Fitness and/or weight loss. Precious few people couldn’t stand to get more fit. I understand about those who are pregnant and those who would like to be pregnant not wanting to get on the weight loss train right now, but y’all still need to be active. I don’t know what the obstetricians/midwives are advising these days, I’m a few years outta that loop, but back in the day (I’m such a geezer!) we were advised to walk a mile a day at least. I don’t think it would be too much of a stretch (see? fitness pun!) to post about your pregnancy work out, even if it’s as simple as walkin’ the dog, it’s worth
keeping track ofblogging.Hey Jenny, I’d like to participate but am not trying to lose weight right now. I have plenty to lose, but I’m hoping to be pregnant soon. I do have fitness goals. Would it be alright to link those? Or, is this purely a weight loss thread? Regardless, I’ll be cheering you on too!
Thanks, Ritsumei!
Good luck! I’ll be cheerleading, rather than participating, as I’m baking our Sparrow right now.
