You barely missed redneck perfection....there was no shooting or monster sized trucks. :) I'm glad I found your blog as our family is growing and I am trying to manage it effectively. Mrs. M

I hear that! I thought ceramic tiles were gonna be GREAT until I saw the color. Very pale beige with light blue highlights. It's beautiful when it's clean, at least I think it was. ;)

My kids track in snow in the winter, sand in the summer, mud in the spring and fall. I'm always cleaning something up. White rugs would be a mistake for this family.

Hi KimC,
The parsley has done well where it is, (I think that's half the battle) it's been there almost a year. I will say yes, it can grow outdoors year round, but might not, depending on how extreme the weather is. I have had some oregano and chives out front for a few years, they also like their location. Basil has also done well in past years, just not right now. It seems to reseed itself easily. Mint likes water, so plant it in partial sun near the water faucet and water it almost every time you think about it.
For all these spectacular successes I've had as many, if not more plantings that did not like their locations. So, maybe not really a green thumb, maybe a tenacious thumb. ;)

I'm curious about the parsley. Does it live outside year 'round? I'd like to grow some herbs, and parsley is near the top of my list - but I have a black thumb. I need something that will thrive with very little attention.
I'm also thinking of chives, basil, and mint. Any experience to share?
