They’re not seizures

I thought I’d fill y’all in on why I haven’t been here lately.

One of my boys was having what we thought were seizures.  Turns out they’re not, but we have been to the pediatrician, the emergency room, had numerous tests, and finally had a visit with a pediatric neurologist.  Yay for the neurologist!

Here’s the deal.  He has Chronic Tic Disorder aggravated by strep throat.  Oh, I forgot to mention, five of the children have strep, so we had one BIG visit to the pediatrician, in addition to all the other visits to the clinics and hospital.  Anyway, back to my boy.  He’s always had some tics, so have I for that matter, but I never knew that strep could make ‘em so much worse.

The neurologist feels that the tics will settle back down and be back to normal levels by the time he finishes his ten days on the penicillin.  So, all we’re doin’ right now is praying, resting, and waiting.

So, with time on my hands, the stress lifted from my life, sore feet from all the walking in the parking lot at the clinics and hospitals (Military hospitals and clinics have the worst parking in the world, am I right Carri?) I might find myself sitting at my computer a little more.

See y’all soon!

I was wondering why you didn’t post… oh my friend, I will be praying for you. We are headed to Vanderbilt to yet another pediatric neurologist to see if HE can figure out what is wrong with Bethany. Hugs, my friend! And just think of the weight you have walked off… as long as you stayed away from the fries at the drive through. ;)

Well, I never have had a french fry problem, it’s the cheeseburgers. Woe is me! And the boy loves the cheeseburgers. I am glad to report he ate more of them than I did last week. I didn’t even know Burger King had a double meat cheeseburger for a buck! And my boy put away three of ‘em in one sitting!
We have Mercy and Bethy on our daily prayer list. I’ll pray that this neuro has the answer for Bethy! :D

I’m not Carri, but Hon, I’ll agree with you 100%! My husband was injured in the military. I’ve wanted to pull my hair out at the military hospital. Especially when they sent him – in a wheelchair – to an appointment in a building that didn’t even have a ramp, let alone an elevator to the third floor! And I was pregnant; huffing and puffing my way up and down stairs to take messages back and forth. At least with his spinal cord injury sticker we can get resonably good parking spaces at the VA Hosp.
Oh, and I’m glad to see you back, and sorry for all the sickies. We just went through some too. Hope all yours get well very soon, and I’m glad it wasn’t seizures that your son was expirencing.

My prayers go out to you. Having just weathered sickness in our own home. I thought perhaps it was strep but lucky for us it was just a nasty cold virus. My son is still fighting a cough/sore throat and mine has shifted to one sinus but all in all we are much better.

So glad that all the kiddos are on the mend. Especially glad that he didn’t have something more serious than strep. If you feel led, please pray for my friend’s little boy,Noah. He is 4 and having major life disrupting issues with seizures. He is being seen @ Miami Children’s Hospital. He is back in the hospital this week with brain surgery likely. Thanks,
blessings, Melanie

Hi Becky,

Overall, I’ve been surprisingly pleased with the Military medical system. I’ve given birth to all my kids there, had a couple of surgeries there, and, well, all of our medical is done there. And they do a great job on the medical bit, but the parking! GRRR!!!
