In a conversation during Fellowship lunch my friend, KimC (Life in a Shoe) reminded me of some wisdom I had shared with her some time back.

Here ya go!

Before you assign a task, ask yourself who is the youngest child who is capable of doing this task?

This can make a huge difference in everyone’s attitude!

The teens see that you are spreading the jobs around better.

The littles are so proud of their ability to assist the family!

The mama is happy to not hear the sighing of the olders and the whining of the youngers.

And you never know just how much help the little pokes can be until you let ‘em try.

I didn’t even ask her to help, she begged!

She can only reach the lowest row, and not easily.  She worked it out!

Talk about taking pride in your work!

I am so glad I made room at my clothesline for Sally Mae  today!  She turned a dull task into a joy!

They all get an opportunity to learn all of the other chores, since we fill in without complaint for sick or absent siblings.   They also help each other out, for fun.   (I don’t know, they like taking baths, too.)

Recently I added a new chore to The Princess’s (age 5) list, and she preforms it faithfully.  This one chore has made all the difference in the world.  Now that it’s getting done daily, I am having trouble understanding just how I never thought of adding it sooner.

We don’t store our toilet paper under the bathroom sink, or anywhere else within reach.  So, it’s The Princess’s job, every morning, to make sure that there are two rolls of paper in each cabinet.  But she has to be very carefull to stack them and place them at the front edge of the cabinet.  That way they are reachable.

What freedom! I never have to answer the dreaded call, “I need some tp!”

What luxury!  It’s always there when it’s needed!
