Yummmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Did you ever see such a delicious looking cake?  My new friends over at Little House in the Suburbs gave me this wonderful cake.  Thanks, gals!

They have the coolest ideas and instructions for all manner of homey crafts and old-fashioned skills we need to learn.  Like makin’ soap, and canning, and raising chickens in our back-yard.  Y’all should go check ‘em out.

Now, does anybody know how I can download my cake to my dinning room table?

What an honor to be nominated.

I was tickled to see some of you, my readers, were nominated too.

Momma Bug was nominated in the category of Best New Homeschool Blog.

In a Shoe was nominated for Live What You Believe Homeschool Blog and Best Family or Group Blog .

I didn’t explore slowly and carefully, so if you read here frequently and I didn’t list you, please say so in the comments and I’ll put you on the list.

Obrigado!

Eu sou assim que honrado!

Isn’t that just the most tastefully decorated little blog award you ever did see?

My BFdJ (best friend du Jour) Nancy at Homemade Blessings has honored my blog with this lovely award.  I am so happy to accept this award and pass it on to a couple of the blogs I read.

Now, do any of you actually speak Portuguese?  Because this is the explanation that accompanies this award.

“This blog invests and believes, in ‘proximity’ [meaning, that blogging makes us 'close' - being close through proxy]. They are all charming blogs, and the majority of them aim to show the marvels of friendship; there are persons who are not interested when we give them a prize, and then they help to cut these bows; do we want that they are cut, or that they propagate? Then let’s try to give more attention to them! So with this prize we must deliver it to eight bloggers that in turn must make the same thing and put this text.”

Which is very nice, but I got a little confused in that part about the bows.  So, for some reason I thought it would clear things up if I sent it through Babelfish, and back again.  I know it sounds dumb when you read it, but this morning, before I had my coffee, it made sense, a little.  The result is lots of fun to read and actually aided me in shakin’ the cobwebs loose and waking up.

“This blogue invests and believes, in proximity of `[the meaning, of that blogging in them makes ' close' - being next with proxy]. Blogues is everything charming, and the majority of them white to show the wonders of the friendship; has people that they are not interested when we give a prize to them, and then help to cut these curves; we want that they are cut, or that they propagate? They leave us then to try to give to more attention! Thus with this prize we must deliver it eight bloggers to it that in turn they must make the same thing and for this text.”

So, now that I have read that, I understand the full intent of the award and the instructions for passing it along.  Now I can, with proxy  and charming  say to Nancy, “Mãe nenhuma cara do cão no remendo da banana!”

All silliness aside for a second.  Thank you, Nancy!  I am honored.

And I hope you understand that because we have the right to use Babelfish to translate things back and forth, we have the responsibility to do so.  For, if we do not exercise our silly translation rights, someone may soon be elected into office who will take away our right to play with the Babelfish translator and make complete fools of ourselves.  No, wait.  That’s homeschooling.  Never mind.

Now, since the instructions say to award eight other blogs, and I think you can divide that number by two for every time it went through Babelfish, (just go with me on this) and the answer is that I will now select 2  blogs to honor with this most prestigious award.

Momma Bug @ Momma Bug’s Blog- ‘Cuz she’s so much like me, only young.

Susan @ Simply Susan - ‘Cuz, um, she is also a lot like me, only younger (see, it’s like a theme), and she even resembles me (when I was younger).

And since I refuse to end a post on THAT note, here is a photo depicting the theme of a new e-book I’m considering writing called Elegant Physical Fitness for the Homeschooled Princess.

Last Minute

Posted by: MotherHen   in Honors and Awards

Join Us at the HSBA!

This day is full of last minute things.  Y’all know my friend KimC, she blogs at Life in a Shoe.  She had a whiz bang idea. (is this a shill?) Y’all should go read what she had to say. (definite shill)  And listen to her advice, she’s a wise woman!  (strong hint)

And since we’re on the topic of nominating yer favorite blogs (ya did realize the point of all the shilling, didn’t ya?) anyway, since we’re on the topic, let’s all run over to The Homeschool Post and nominate Life in a Shoe for the category of “Live What You Believe” Homeschool blog.

One thing after another and it’s ALL good.

  • In case you missed the very strong hint in my post about The Homeschool Toolbar, you should totally go get one because my Ship Full O’ Pirates is featured in the “Blogs” button on The Homeschool Toolbar. :D
  • Momma Bug has bestowed on me my very first blog award.  I may give a speech.  I definitely want a mantle on which to set it, but I am totally gonna put it in the sidebar.  And, when I say “I am” - I, of course, mean “hey Cap’n come here!”
  • I have been asked to guest post on a regular, weekly (every Wednesday, be there, or be square!) basis at Frugal Hacks, the BEST frugal blog on the web!  Yes, starting THIS Wednesday!  Bookmark it!
  • Here’s another good thing.  I am happy that I am not a hat wearing person, ‘cuz I would need to buy some larger ones since I have really got a case of the big head right now, and it’s still our 30 Days o’ Nuthin’ so I can’t buy any large hats.  But, 30 Days or not, I still feel like a million bucks today!

Thanks Momma Bug, I am tickled to death that you enjoy my blog.  Thank you very much. (read that last bit in your Elvis voice.) If you’ve caught my excitement, you could add, “Mother Hen has left the building!”  (or at least taken leave of most of her senses, for the day)

I would, in turn, like to bestow this award on three of my favorite blogs.

Life in a Shoe - yes Kim, your children are weird interesting!

Engstrom Family Cerebrations - where they will soon add their fifth Pirate to their crew!

Home of the Petersonclan - home of the blue egg and the one-winged chicken!
